Tamworth Custom Builders

We partnered with Tamworth Custom Builders, a custom home builder serving Tamworth and the New England region of NSW, to give a growing local business a website and a voice entirely its own. That meant starting from a blank page: a full site build and a content package written from the ground up, built around how the business actually works with its clients, from first conversation through to key handover.

Client

Tamworth Custom Builders is a bespoke home builder based in Tamworth, New South Wales, working across the New England region. The business builds custom homes shaped around the block, the budget and the family living in it – large architectural builds, homes on tricky sloping sites, and renovations and extensions to existing houses.

It’s a considered, relationship-led way of building: clients work directly with the people running the business from the first conversation through design, construction and handover, rather than being handed off through a standard sales process. That approach only works if the website carries the same feel – personal, clear, and confidence-building for someone about to make one of the biggest decisions of their life.

Every full month since launch, organic search has out-earned every other channel – no paid spend required.

Brief

Tamworth Custom Builders needed a website that was entirely its own – not adapted from something else, built from a blank page around the business as it exists today. That brief covered the whole site and the words on it:

  • A completely new site build, designed and structured from scratch
  • A written content package covering every core page – not a placeholder site waiting to be filled in later
  • A clear, four-step pathway explaining how the business takes a client from first conversation to handover, so a prospective client knows what they’re signing up for before they ever pick up the phone
  • A showcase-homes portfolio section, built from real project detail gathered directly from the client
  • A trust-building case for choosing a custom builder over a project-home volume builder, without disparaging the alternative
  • Content written for launch, including new blog posts and a properly imaged site, so the business had a real, complete presence from day one rather than a site that looked unfinished at launch

Our Strategy

A custom home builder sells trust before it sells anything else, so the design strategy started from that: the site had to feel as personal and hands-on as the business itself, not like a template with the logo swapped out. A full mockup was signed off before any build work began, giving the client one complete picture of the finished site to approve rather than a series of half-built pages to react to as they went.

The content direction did the real heavy lifting. Rather than writing generic project blurbs, we ran a dedicated content call to pull the real story behind each completed build – the block, the brief, the result, what actually made it distinctive – and built that into a proper showcase-homes portfolio, with each project given its own page rather than being flattened into a single gallery. That portfolio was designed to grow: every new home the business completes gets the same treatment, so the site becomes a running record of the work rather than a fixed launch-day snapshot.

Around that portfolio, the whole site was structured to answer the hesitations a custom-home client actually carries before signing anything – cost certainty, who they’re dealing with, how involved they’ll be kept – rather than leading with a sales pitch. That meant writing a plain, four-step pathway (Consultation and Planning, Design and Materials Selection, Construction and Quality Assurance, Walkthrough and Key Handover) so a prospective client knows exactly what they’re signing up for before they ever pick up the phone, plus a section built specifically to address pricing clarity, communication and consistency of finish – the three things a first-time custom-home client worries about most.

New blog content, a full set of real project imagery in place of launch-day placeholders, and a training document so the client’s own team can keep adding to the portfolio after handover all went in before launch, alongside the usual meta data, mobile and form testing.

Outcome

The site now does two jobs the business didn’t have before: it brings people in on its own, and it gives the business somewhere real to show its work.

On the first, the clearest result is where the traffic is coming from. The launch week itself was carried by a one-off push to the business’s own Facebook following, as you’d expect – but in every full month since, organic search has been the single largest source of traffic on the site, ahead of direct visits and ahead of social, and by August organic search alone accounted for 52% of all sessions. That is a genuinely strong result for a brand-new domain, with no advertising and no SEO campaign running behind it – the groundwork laid at launch (proper meta data, real written content, a clean structure) is already doing the job on its own. Alongside it, the site has already generated 11 completed enquiries through its contact form – a working lead channel that simply did not exist under this business’s own name before.

On the second, the showcase-homes portfolio is already functioning exactly as intended: it isn’t just sitting on the homepage waiting to be scrolled past, the individual home pages are pulling their own direct traffic – visitors going straight to “The Hamptons” or “Forest Hills” rather than only arriving through the homepage grid. For a business that sells on the strength of finished work, that is the site doing its most important job: giving each completed home a real page of its own that people actually go and look at, and a structure the business can keep adding to as every new build finishes.

Brains Behind the Build

A brand launch only works when the design and the words are built together, by the same hands. From the first mockup through the content package, the build and launch day, iSonic Digital handled the design, the writing and the build end to end.
